Health and Fitness Assessments

Interested in a current fitness evaluation that will lead directly to your goal setting and exercise prescription? We highly recommend a complete fitness assessment for those beginning an exercise program or for those wanting to assess their current fitness levels.

Fitness Works can help you understand the importance of body composition, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength and endurance. Your assessment can be a valuable tool to help you monitor the effectiveness of your current exercise program and assess your current fitness levels.

Included in the testing:

Body measurements are taken, including resting heart rate, blood pressure, height, weight, girth and skin folds.
Cardiorespiratory efficiency is estimated by monitoring heart rate response while the participant performs a step test at a dictated pace.
Muscular endurance is measured by recording the performance of push-ups and abdominal curl-ups (crunches).

Muscular strength is measured with a dynamometer doing a grip-strength test.

Muscular power is measured with a vertical jump test.

Flexibility is measured with the ‘sit and reach’ test where the seated participant is asked to lean forward and reach to the maximum distance possible.
